طراحی هیدرودینامیکی شکل بدنه از اصلی­ترین مراحل طراحی بدنه یک وسیله زیرسطحی می­باشد. پارامترهای موثر در طراحی هیدرودینامیکی شکل بدنه شامل طول قسمت دماغه و دم، پروفیل آنها و نیز قسمت تخت جلوی دماغه و پشت دم می­باشند. در مطالعه حاضر به منظور بررسی تاثیر هریک از این پارامترها بر ضریب درگ بدنه از روش  طراحی آزمایشها  استفاده شده است. برای این منظور  ضمن معرفی دسته بدنه­های خانواده هیدرولب، نتایج به دست آمده از شبیه­سازی عددی جریان حول بدنه هیدرولب500 جهت طراحی آزمایشها بکار گرفته شده است. لذا در مرحله نخست یک نمونه آزمایش تجربی در تونل آب برای اعتبارسنجی پروفیل فشار بدنه هیدرولب500 انجام شده است. مقایسه نتایج تجربی و عددی بدنه هیدرولب500، اعتبار روش عددی بکارگرفته شده را نشان می­دهد. نتایج به دست آمده از کار حاضر نشان می دهد که به کمک روش ارئه شده با دقت بالایی می­توان ضریب درگ یک وسیله زیرسطحی خودکنترل را در طرح نهایی تخمین زد.
