کنترل دقیق ربات‌های زیرسطحی به دلیل دینامیک غیرخطی، عدم قطعیت‌های پارامتریک و اغتشاشات محیطی، یک چالش اساسی است. این مقاله یک رویکرد یکپارچه برای شناسایی سیستم و کنترل مقاوم عمق یک ROV واقعی ارائه می‌دهد. ابتدا یک مدل دینامیکی غیرخطی با چهار درجه آزادی در فضای شبیه سازی توسعه داده شد. سپس، با به‌کارگیری الگوریتم‌های شناسایی سیستم، یک مدل خطی برای دینامیک عمق‌روی استخراج گردید. بر پایه این مدل، یک کنترل‌کننده مقاوم ∞H با استفاده از چارچوب حساسیت ترکیبی طراحی شد که قادر به حفظ پایداری و دقت در حضور عدم قطعیت‌ها و نویز است. در ادامه عملکرد کنترلر در شبیه‌سازی اعتبارسنجی شد. نتایج نشان می‌دهند که کنترلر طراحی‌شده دارای حاشیه‌های پایداری مطلوب بوده و قادر است خطای ردیابی عمق مرجع را به صفر برساند. همچنین، یک فیلتر کالمن برای تخمین عمق ربات پیاده‌سازی شد که دقت تخمین را در حضور نویز سنسورها به‌طور چشمگیری بهبود بخشید. رویکرد پیشنهادی می‌تواند به‌عنوان یک الگوی عملی برای توسعه سامانه‌های کنترل مقاوم و کم‌هزینه برای ربات‌های زیرسطحی مشابه مورداستفاده قرار گیرد.
