In accordance with development of coastal area around the worlds, constructing breakwaters with sophisticated materials is increased. In the south costs of Iran, rock mass breakwaters is more common than other types of breakwaters. However enough source of good rock deposits is quite rare. In that region, Lomashel rock is the dominant rock formation. Therefore using different coating materials and evaluation of their effects on physical and mechanical properties of Lomashel rocks is the main objective of this research work. A numbers of Lomashel rocks of Holor mine of Dargahan in Qeshm Island was taken. Samples classified into four groups. Except the control raw material group, three different improve materials such as limewater, resin epoxy and biogrout have been used for other rock samples. Physical and mechanical properties of all rock samples have been examined based on suggested standard methods in laboratory. The results show that limewater decreases the rock quality up to 8.5% while biogrout, and resin epoxy increase rock quality up to 7% and 17% respectively compared to the natural rock samples. However, resin epoxy known as a surface improvement because of its different physicochemical attributes with rock and its low deep permeation. In accordance with these reasons resin epoxy must use periodically.
