ربات­های زیرآبی مجموعه­ای از وسایل دریایی هستند که برای مقاصدی از قبیل اکتشاف، حفاری، کابل گذاری زیردریا، نگهداری و تعمیرات سازه­های دریایی و کاربردهای نظامی بکار میروند. در این پژوهش، سعی بر ارائه زمینه مناسبی جهت طراحی مفهومی کاربردی ربات­های AUV با در نظر گرفتن هندسه­های رایج برای طراحی بدنه می­باشد. با استفاده از نرم افزار MATLab برنامه ای تهیه شده است که با در نظر گرفتن اطلاعات اولیه­ی کاربر، طراحی مفهومی کاربردی را در اختیار کاربر قرار می­دهد. در این برنامه سری­های بدنه پرکاربردDARPA Suboff ، Series 58 ، Myring  و DRDC گنجانده شده است تا کاربر بتواند از بدنه­های رایج برای طراحی بهره ببرد. خروجی­های این برنامه محاسبه ضرایب هیدرودینامیکی و شبیه سازی مانورهای عملیاتی، طراحی سیستم رانش، بررسی استحکام سازه­ای و محاسبات هندسی بدنه ربات زیرسطحی AUV هستند که براساس الگوریتم های طراحی شده سعی گردیده در محدوده­ی مناسب و بهینه قرار داشته باشند. اساس این مطالعه دیدگاهی عملیاتی و کاربردی، باتوجه به خواسته­ ها و الویت­ های عملیاتی طراحان می ­باشد و با نتایجی که ارائه شده است، می­توان برای شرایط مختلف هندسه ­ی مطلوب­تری برای طراحی فرم هندسی بدنه انتخاب نمود.
